satin
One of the basic weaves. A shiny, smooth
silk,
acetate,
rayon, or other man-made
fiber combination woven in
satin weave made with a
cotton filling. It has a smooth, lustrous surface because the
warp floats. It is used for linings of coats, jackets, facings, and ties. It is also used for draperies, upholstery, bedspreads, and sheets.
